9 Alkaline Foods That Fight Cancer, Pain, Gout, Diabetes And Heart Disease

Trying to go alkaline?
It’s easier when you know which foods help you get to and stay in an alkaline state. A general rule of thumb is that you can eat these foods without worrying about any acidic effect they’ll have, although some are more alkaline than others.
IT ISN’T NECESSARY TO EAT ONLY ALKALINE FOODS IN ORDER TO GET BODY’S PH LEVELS TO BE ALKALINE, AND A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE OF FOODS CAN BE ACIDIC, BUT IT’S BEST IF THEY’RE NATURAL, WHOLE FOODS LIKE FRUITS.

Almonds

Almonds consistently rank on the list of healthiest foods to eat, so it’s no wonder that they’re also an alkaline food.
MOST NUTS AND SEEDS ARE CONSIDERED ACID UNLESS THEY’RE SPROUTED; HOWEVER THERE ARE SOME THAT ARE NEUTRAL OR JUST SLIGHTLY ALKALINE SUCH AS ALMOND

TODAY AMARANTH IS VALUED WORLDWIDE. THE UNITED NATIONS FOOD AND AGRICULTURE ORGANIZATION HAS FOSTERED AMARANTH’S USE SINCE 1967 BECAUSE WHEREVER IT IS CONSUMED THERE IS NO MALNUTRITION. AMARANTH HAS MORE PROTEIN THAN WHEAT AND HIGHER IN THE AMINO ACID LYSINE THAN OTHER GRAIN SOURCES OF PROTEIN.
BOTANISTS NOTE THAT AMARANTH BELONGS TO A REMARKABLE GROUP OF PHOTOSYNTHETIC SUPER PERFORMERS CALLED THE C4 GROUP, MEANING IT IS SUPER EFFICIENT IN CONVERTING SOIL, SUNLIGHT, AND WATER INTO PLANT TISSUE.

Asparagus has an alkaline effect on the body, and it just so happens that it’s one of the strongest foods you can eat in terms of alkalinity.
EACH FOOD IS RANKED ACCORDING TO HOW ALKALINE IT IS, AND ASPARAGUS IS ONE OF THE “BIG DOGS”. BUT IT BRINGS A LOT MORE THAN THAT TO THE TABLE, INCLUDING ANTIOXIDANTS, NUTRIENTS, AND PLENTY OF DETOXIFYING QUALITIES. IT’S EVEN BEEN NOTED THAT ASPARAGUS HAS ANTI-AGING BENEFITS, WHICH IS ENOUGH FOR MOST PEOPLE TO START ADDING MORE OF IT TO THEIR MENU.

Understanding How an Alkaline Diet Works

Alkaline diets are a popular choice for people who want to achieve optimum good health. However, many people don’t actually understand this diet or how it works. The concept is actually fairly simple – the diet just focuses on regaining the balance that was lost when man started to eat a more domesticated diet. Instead of focusing on foods that are high in sugar, fat, and cholesterol, an alkaline diet primarily consists of fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy whole grains, wholesome protein sources such as soy, beans and legumes, and healthy oils such as canola, olive and flax seed. These foods may be either alkaline or acid in their natural state, but they all produce what is termed as an “alkaline ash” once digested and metabolized by the body. When the body’s pH is kept at a slightly alkaline level, all the systems can work more efficiently.
Understanding the Effects of the Body’s pH Level
The pH level of the body has the ability to affect every single cell of the body. When the blood has an alkaline pH instead of an acidic pH, it will have a positive effect on how every bodily system functions. The brain, circulatory system, nerves, muscles, respiratory system, digestive system, and reproductive system can all benefit from a proper pH level. On the other hand, when the pH of the body is too acidic, it is susceptible to many diseases and problems. Weight gain, heart disease, premature aging, fatigue, nerve problems, allergies, muscle disease and cancer are all more prevalent when the body’s pH is not optimal. Because these problems are all more likely to occur when the body’s pH is too acid, it makes good sense to eat a diet rich in alkalizing foods. The primary goal is usually to eat approximately 75-80% alkaline foods along with only about 20-25% acidifying foods. If this level is maintained in the diet, the end result is a slightly alkaline pH in the body, which is perfect for optimum good health.
Choosing Foods for an Alkaline Diet
It’s actually quite easy to eat a diet rich in alkaline-producing foods. Most fresh fruits and vegetables are excellent choices. Red meat is not a good choice, but you can add plenty of protein to your meals by using soy products, delicious beans, legumes, and nuts such as almonds. You should eliminate unhealthy fats from your diet, but you can use good fats such as olive, canola, and flax seed oil. High fat dairy products should be avoided, but you can drink soy milk and goat’s milk. Cheeses made from soy milk and goat’s milk would also be good choices. Replace the empty calories of soda with delicious iced herb tea, green tea and lemon water. Coffee should be avoided, but you can drink hot herbal or green tea. Replace pasta with healthy whole grains such as wild rice, millet and quinoa. When sweetening your foods, focus on natural products such as raw sugar, Stevia and maple sugar. As you can see, you’ll have many nutritious choices that are both delicious and high in alkalizing properties.

Flourless Sweet Potato Muffins Packed With Cancer-Fighting Antioxidants

These muffins taste great and help fight cancer and inflammation! ‪#‎healthybody‬

You can never have enough healthy, not to mention delicious, muffin recipes under your belt (pun not intended). This recipe is one of our favorites, and for good reason. Not only is it tasty, it’s packed full of health benefits from the different ingredients in it – none more than sweet potato.

While you can substitute pumpkin in this recipe, why would you? Sweet potato gives these muffins a deliciously sweet, earthy flavor that works perfectly with the sweet maple syrup. Not to mention the amazing health benefits that sweet potato has to offer.

Ingredients

You’ll need:
  • 1 small organic sweet potato, roasted (1 cup, packed)
  • 3 organic free range eggs, lightly beaten
  • ¾  cup of organic canned coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons of organic olive oil
  • ½ cup of pure organic maple syrup
  • 1 cup of organic brown rice flour
  • ¼ cup of organic coconut flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon pink Himalayan salt
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • ⅛  teaspoon of ground cloves
  • ⅛  teaspoon of ground nutmeg

Directions

Pre-heat your oven to 400 ℉ and lightly oil a 12-hole muffin tray.
When the oven reaches the right temperature, poke holes in your sweet potato and place it on the middle rack of the oven to cook for about 60 minutes, or until it is very soft. Once it’s cooked, remove it from the oven and let it cool.

Once the sweet potato is cool enough to handle, scrape the flesh from the skin and place the pulp in a mixing bowl. You can discard the skin, or eat it as a quick snack. The skin is actually packed with a lot of the same vitamins as the rest of the sweet potato.

Add the olive oil, almond milk, and maple syrup to the sweet potato and mix until it creates a smooth mixture. In a separate bowl, mix your dry ingredients together until well combined. Pour the dry ingredients into the rest of the sweet potato and combine until everything is uniform.

Pour the batter into the muffin pan, filling the spaces until ¾ of the way full. Place them on the middle rack and cook for 30-35 minutes, or until a knife in inserted into the middle of a muffin comes out clean.

Why You Should Eat More Sweet Potato

These delicious muffins not only taste great, but they are also full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories!

The flesh of sweet potatoes contains high levels of beta-carotene, an antioxidant that works to fight dangerous free radicals in your body. These free radicals can affect the DNA makeup of your cells, which can lead to mutations in the cells. This cell mutation is what leads inevitably to cancers of various kinds.

Sweet potatoes are also full of the anti-inflammatory nutrient anthocyanin which is what gives the sweet potato it’s vibrant color. Inflammation is usually the cause of multiple chronic diseases and can lead to further health issues if left untreated. The best part? Sweet potato works against both chronic and acute inflammation, healing you of both.

We love these sweet potato muffins, and look for any reason to bake them and we’re sure you will too!

Black Pepper and Turmeric – This Combination Could Save Lives - Complete Health and Happiness

Have you heard about this amazing combination? ‪#‎healthyliving‬

Researchers at the University of Michigan  have discovered that black pepper and turmeric combined together could play an important role in preventing and even treating breast cancer. Though, turmeric is a powerful medicinal herb on its own, when consumed orally, it has a poor bioavailability (absorption) due to its rapid metabolism in the liver and intestinal wall.  Thus, black pepper can increase the bioavailability of the cancer, inflammation and infection fighter, curcumin, up to two thousand percent.

Health Benefits of  Black Pepper and Turmeric

Anti-Cancer Combination.  Recent studies  have found that a compound in black pepper called piperine makes the cancer-fighting curcumin in turmeric as much as 1,000 times more bioavailable. Without piperine,  bioavailability of turmeric is really low. In a study published in the Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Journal, researchers discovered that curcumin and piperine, when combined, were able to target cancer stem cells.

Reduces Pain and Inflammation.  Piperine and Curcumin compounds have been shown to influence more than 700 genes, and it can inhibit both the activity and the synthesis of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2) and 5-lipooxygenase (5-LOX), as well as other enzymes that have been implicated in inflammation.

Weight-Loss: Turmeric and black pepper can help with weight loss. The piperine in black pepper is thermogenic, meaning it raises the metabolism and increases the number of calories burned by the body. It is also believed to help trigger a sensation of fullness.

Natural antidepressant. Active compounds in both turmeric and black pepper have potential anti-depressant effects. These compounds can raise the levels of serotonin and dopamine in the brain and  inhibit monoamine oxidase, an enzyme which is linked to depression if found in the brain in high levels.

Black pepper and turmeric (where to find) can be added to most foods and even fresh vegetable juices or smoothies.

This Is What Happens If You Eat Ripe Bananas

Eating a ripe banana with dark spots brings a lot more benefits than you would imagine.

Bananas have long been praised for their numerous health benefits which include lowering blood pressure, lessening the risk of asthma, combating cancer and diabetes, improving heart health, and memory, amongst other  things.

What few people realize, however, is that the maturity level of these fruits plays a significant role in their overall effectiveness in regards to health.

A study exploring this was conducted by Japanese scientists in 2009, demonstrating that ripe bananas produce a substance called TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) which has the ability to fight against cells that behave abnormally.

A banana begins to ripen when it turns yellow and then furthermore as parts of its skin darkens as shown in the picture above. As a banana ripens and turns yellow, its levels of antioxidants increase which serve to protect your body against cancer and other diseases.
