The Brain-Destroying, Cancer-Causing Ingredient Hidden In Most Of Our Food





I used to think that MSG was just in Chinese food, but the truth is that it’s actually added to thousands of the foods you and your family regularly eat, especially if you are like most Americans and eat the majority of your food as processed packaged foods or in restaurants.
MSG is one of the most harmful additives on the market and is used in frozen dinners, crackers, canned soups, processed meats, barbeque sauce, salad dressings, and much more. It’s found in your local supermarket and restaurants, in your child’s school cafeteria and, amazingly, even in baby food and infant formula.
Why is MSG so harmful? 
It’s an excitotoxin — substances, usually containing amino acids that react with specialized receptors (neurons) in the brain in such a way as to lead to the destruction of certain types of brain cells. Humans lack a blood-brain barrier in the hypothalamus, which allows these excitotoxins to enter the brain and cause damage. Simply put, as described in Dr. Russell Blaylock’s excellent book, Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills, they are exactly what they sound like: toxins that excite your brain cells to death!





How does this happen?
As Dr. Blaylock explains, “MSG enters the brain past the blood-brain barrier and triggers neurons to open their calcium channel. The glutamate causes the cell to remain stuck in the open position then calcium floods into the cell in large amounts. This triggers the cell to react in emergency mode and starts its special pump that will start pumping out the excess calcium using up large amounts of energy (ATP).

The cell then swells up with excess calcium and eventually the cell is depleted of energy and dies within a few hours. The pump couldn’t pump out the excess calcium fast enough. It’s like trying to bail water out of a boat with a large hole in the bottom. You use up a ton of energy and eventually the boat is filled and sinks. The cell shrivels up and the body’s defense mechanism sweeps away the dead cell debris.”
No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so the scientists create them. They make these morbidly obese creatures by injecting them with MSG when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats to become obese.
MSG creates a lesion in the hypothalamus that correlates with abnormal development, including obesity, short stature and sexual reproduction problems. MSG has also been shown to kill brain cells as well as to cause nausea, vomiting, migraine headaches, depression, and heart problems.
According to Dr. Russell Blaylock, MD, the following are hidden MSG derivatives listed on ingredient labels that should be avoided:

Harvard Scientist Urging People To Stop Drinking “Low-Fat” Milk Immediately




Vegans may have had it right all along; while raw, organic milk offers numerous health benefits, a Harvard researcher and pediatrician argues that conventional milk and dairy products alike are a detriment to your health – thanks to added health-compromising sweeteners.

As David Ludwig mentioned in his research, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics, there have been countless pieces of research concluding the ill effects of sugar-sweetened beverages. The over-consumption of sugar has been tied to obesity, diabetes, inflammatory-related pain, and much more. And because of sugar’s negative effects on our health, even the United States Department of Agriculture, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and other organizations are recommending against consuming calories from sugary drinks.


The one calorie-containing beverage they still heavily promote, however, is reduced-fat milk, where the organization recommends drinking 3 cups daily. This is where Ludwig questions the scientific rationale for such recommendations.“This recommendation to drink three cups a day of milk – it’s perhaps the most prevailing advice given to the American public about diet in the last half century. As a result, Americans are consuming billions of gallons of milk a year, presumably under the assumption that their bones would crumble without them,” says David Ludwig.

As far as Ludwig is concerned, if the USDA is recommending to drink reduced-fat milk, it is also inadvertently encouraging the consumption of added sugars – a piece of advice that goes against all the research saying not to consume sugar and sugar-sweetened beverages. The idea of consuming low-fat milk or chocolate milk cancels out the whole reasoning for the recommendation in the first place since the fats are simply being replaced with dangerous sugars.

“The worst possible situation is reduced-fat chocolate milk: you take out the fat, it’s less tasty. So to get kids to drink 3 cups a day, you get this sugar-sweetened beverage,” Ludwig says. ”…we can get plenty of calcium from a whole range of foods. On a gram for gram basis, cooked kale has more calcium than milk. Sardines, nuts seeds beans, green leafy vegetables are all sources of calcium.”

The Case Against Low-Fat Dairy, and Other Dangers of Milk

Harvard researcher David Ludwig certainly has a point in analyzing and ultimately criticizing the USDA’s recommendations, but there is much more to the full-fat vs reduced-fat argument for milk and dairy products.

There are plenty of reasons to avoid certain fats such as trans-fats and refined polyunsaturated fats in vegetable oils (like corn, soy, sunflower, and canola), but the evidence for moderate consumption of saturated fat, which is found in milk, coconut oil, and grass-fed land animals, is coming to the surface. While saturated fat was villainized for decades, a 2010 analysis published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition concluded that “there is no significant evidence for concluding that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of [coronary heart disease or cardiovascular disease].”

Further, there are numerous benefits to drinking full-fat dairy products. In it’s most pure state (raw, organic, and coming from grass-fed cows), full-fat dairy has been found in research to potentially promote heart health, control diabetes, aid in vitamin absorption, lower bowel cancer risk, and even aid in weight loss. But while pure dairy could promote your health, conventional dairy may prove damaging.

Before you consume more conventional dairy, please educate yourself as to what’s in your dairy. You’d be surprised that there could be 20+ painkillers, antibiotics, and much more lurking in your milk.

Here’s Why You Need To Stop Using Hand Sanitizer





Hand sanitizer is quite literally everywhere. If the pumps of Purell fastened to nearly every other wall in America isn’t enough to convince us, maybe the fact that we see people carrying mini-bottles of it everywhere is. As a side note, in typing out this article, this writer noticed a nearly-forgotten about small pump of generic hand sanitizer sitting on the desk…seriously.
On the surface it makes sense. We see the “Kills 99.99-whatever% of germs” label and it sounds good. Nobody wants germs anywhere near them. The product is usually quite cheap, we stay healthy, and all is good. Well, that’s not quite accurate.
In fact, the ultra-clean image that hand sanitizer companies wanted to convey was enough to grab the attention of America’s most prominent public health organization – the Food and Drug Administration (or FDA). The FDA is solely responsible for regulating a multitude of products that affect public health. This organization also approves or denies all kinds of consumable products, from animal feed to tobacco. In other words, companies don’t want to be flagged by these guys.
In April of 2015, the FDA required companies that produced hand soap and alcohol-based sanitizers to produce a multitude of safety data. Here are some of the requirements specified by the FDA of sanitizer producers:
– Proof that the product does not adversely affect pregnant women.
– Proof that the product does not aid the development of antibacterial resistance.
– Proof that the product does not have significant hormonal effects.
All three of these demands from the FDA are serious causes for concern. Understandably, many pregnant women are concerned; although there is not yet sufficient evidence that hand sanitizer is particularly harmful to this demographic.
The FDA is concerned that triclosan – an ingredient in some hand sanitizers – may have hormonal effects. Specifically, that it may alter the thyroid and reproductive systems of newborns. Needless to say, these requirements from the FDA has casted a leery eye upon the multi-billion dollar industry.
It turns out that there are other (and less serious) ways that hand sanitizer may be harmful.

HERE’S WHY YOU NEED TO STOP USING HAND SANITIZER:

1. IT HARMS OUR SKIN

Sanitizing products contain mostly alcohol, which is known for having a drying effect. Since alcohol increases the absorption ability of the skin, it also allows for chemicals to penetrate – effectively “de-fatting” the skin, or disrupting oil production. Aside from the harmful effects created by alcohol, sanitizers also contain glycerin which can be irritating to the skin and enhance the sanitizer’s drying effect. There are other ingredients, such as glycol and acetate, that can further damage our skin.

2. IT CAN CREATE RESISTANT BACTERIA

First of all, don’t get images of “The Walking Dead” here. Bacterial resistance may sound awfully frightening, but it’s certainly not that frightening. Here’s the deal: overuse of antibiotics can potentially lead to the development of bacteria that is resistant to the element. In other words, bacteria have the ability to evolve just like everything else; the more that we expose certain bacteria to the same elements, the higher chance that the element will have a diminished effect.
The Center for Disease Control (or CDC) estimates that in 2013, these “superbugs” were responsible for about 23,000 deaths. While certainly not a mind-boggling number when compared to the overall population of the United States, the CDC and other interested groups want to counteract this trend by minimizing any unnecessary risk. This includes allowing bacteria to develop resistant qualities.

3. IT CONTAINS UNKNOWN AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CHEMICALS

As stated, sanitizers contain mostly alcohol or triclosan, but there are other chemicals that are included in the product as well. Most scented sanitizers use some sort of preservative to prolong the product’s shelf life. However, these preservatives are absorbed into our skin each time that we use the product.
We mention scented sanitizers because they’re far more likely to have these preservatives. Two preservatives – phthalates and parabens – can potentially disrupt hormonal production. Not to mention, there are some companies that do not detail what ingredients are contained.

4. IT CAN INCREASE ABSORPTION OF BAD CHEMICALS

We’ve already mentioned that sanitizers increase the skin’s absorption. In doing so, the skin becomes vulnerable to potentially damaging chemicals. One such chemical is called Bisphenol A, which can cause damage to the endocrine system. Studies have linked BPA to cancer, heart disease, infertility, and diabetes.
In a study at the University of Missouri, researchers used thermal receipt paper – the kind many cash registers use – to demonstrate the threat. Thermal receipt paper also contains high levels of BPA. Researchers discovered that in subjects that used sanitizer before touching the paper, the absorption of BPA increased by over a hundred times.

5. SOAP AND WATER WORK ALMOST AS WELL

Yes, regular soap and water may work just as well in many cases. In fact, most experts recommend using soap and water unless it is more beneficial to use sanitizer, such as in a healthcare setting. The FDA even takes this recommendation further, advising people to use regular soap instead of antibacterial soap, claiming there is not much of a difference. Further, antibacterial soap can aid in the bacteria developing resistance.
Bottom line: if we have access to soap and water, we should use it. When we shop for soap, we can stay away from the antibacterial type. And we should continue to do the best thing for humanity, and not give bacteria the opportunity to develop resistance to our defenses! Stay healthy, fellow readers!

Humans are omnivores. We don’t naturally lean toward vegetarianism, as historically it has been difficult to get all of our nutrients this way. Of course, vegetarianism is an easy and healthy choice for many now that grocery stores are accessible to nearly all in the Western world.
However, when it comes to meat, the products in your local butcher department have little resemblance to the animal meat3proteins consumed by our ancestors. This has implications for our overall health that most don’t even realize.
For most of human history, we were nomadic hunter/gatherers. It wasn’t until about 8000 years ago that we figured out how to cultivate land and domesticate livestock, leading the the advent of modern society as we know it today. Instead of going out and dealing with the unknowns of hunting, we could have organic produce and natural, grass and grain-fed livestock readily at hand.
The problem is that now our farms aren’t there to produce products for the local market necessarily. Most of our food is produced in a profoundly unnatural setting, then shipped across nations and overseas to finally get to the plates on the table. Many people don’t even know from where there food comes, or how it is produced.
Let’s break down the modern meat industry.

Our Modern Meat

American meat production became big business after World War II was over and our economy and population starting booming. Farmers formerly employed in raising free-range animals with a natural diet went by the wayside in favor of more efficient factory-style farms. It was ‘progress.’
081116-meat-hmed-1p.grid-6x2Unfortunately, in the name of efficiency, factory-farmed cattle spend their days in feed lots and are given unnatural hormones to make them grow fatter faster.
Those that are lucky are fed corn and soy. However, in addition, mass-produced farm animals are often forced into carnivorous behavior, being fed diseased animals and even manure, plastic wrappers, candy, sawdust, and more.
Legally, our livestock in the U.S. can be fed euthanized dogs and cats, horses, and road kill.
Sick food produces sick livestock, and this is why antibiotics are needed.

Deficiency in the Modern Diet

This unnatural and immoral way of producing meat, besides being aesthetically unappealing, affects your health as well.
The importance of essential fatty acids (EFA’s) in our diets is coming out of the corners of the oft-marginalized holistic and natural medical field and into the minds of the masses. The thing is that meat from wild hunted game and naturally grazed animals is healthy, lean and chock full of nutrition. In contrast, animals raised in factory farms aren’t given access to their natural food sources, and therefore, the meat produced form them no longer contains the vital omegas and other EFA’s.
This is not just a problem with our cattle, either. It also applies to pork, chicken, lamb, or any other meat that is raised commercially. Unless they are specifically ‘wild’ or ‘grass-fed,’ they will not bear the nutrition that they are supposed to provide. This goes for dairy, eggs, and fish as well.
The deficiency in us of EFA’s has been blown open as a ‘hidden’ epidemic. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, EFA deficiencies are responsible for at least 100,000 deaths per year, and probably more.
Finding Healthy Meat
meat-organicIf you are invested in feeding yourself and your family nutrient-dense meat with plenty of omega-3 fatty acids without antibiotics or hormones, here’s how you can find it:
- Purchase grass-fed beef and pasture-raised poultry and pork. If you can’t find it locally, you can find it online.
- Buy grass-fed natural bison if you can find it. This is lower in fat, cholesterol, and calories than beef.
- When it comes to dairy and eggs, buy from local farmers and farmers’ markets. This goes for beef as well, if you can find it.

Most Salmon Isn’t Really Wild. Or Pink.

Line-caught wild salmon is both reasonably sustainable and rich in nutrition, including essential omega-3′s.
However, a recent exposé by the New York Times found that most salmon labeled as ‘wild’ was actually farm-raised.
The different fish looked the same, but they were different in flavor. Of course, by the time it’s in your mouth, it’s too late.
Salmon flesh is naturally gray. It gets its pink color from eating krill, and farmed salmon is fed chemically synthesized astaxanthin, the carotenoid in krill that provides that color.
It’s safe to say that, if you’re in a land-locked state, don’t buy the seafood on the menu or in the stores. There’s hardly any way it is wild. However, you can buy it online!

Conclusion

While we are not advocating a return to the caves, hunting with spears, and spending most of our nasty, brutish and short lives searching for food, it is obvious that the way we grow our meat is fundamentally flawed.
In America, we eat much, much more meat on average than we need or is healthy. What’s more, the meat we tend to eat is nutritionally barren. Reducing our intake of meat, and sourcing it from farmers with integrity when we do partake, is vital for a healthier life.

New Study Could Spell The End For Diet Soda And Aspartame




The Age Of Aspartame May Be Coming To An End As More Health Risks Are Confirmed

As concerns about health epidemics plague the nation, demand and sales of diet soda have plunged as consumers try to make better choices. As we reported yesterday, aspartame–the main sweetener for diet soda–is one of the most dangerous ingredients used in our food supply, causing seizures and a host of other health issues.


In a new study done over ten years and sampling 60,000 women, it was shown that women who drink two or more diet drinks a day have much higher cardiovascular disease rates and are more likely to die from the disease.
In the largest study done of it’s kind, The University of Iowa concluded:
“…[C]ompared to women who never or only rarely consume diet drinks, those who consume two or more a day are 30 percent more likely to have a cardiovascular event [heart attack or stroke] and 50 percent more likely to die from related disease.
‘This is one of the largest studies on this topic, and our findings are consistent with some previous data, especially those linking diet drinks to the metabolic syndrome,’ says Dr. Ankur Vyas… the lead investigator of the study.

Another important note is that the overall sales of soda going down also means that less people are being exposed to(mostly GM) high fructose corn syrup which carries a whole host of health risks as well.

Scientists Reveal A Nasty Secret About SunChips




Bad news: Frito-Lays SunChips have just tested positive for weed killer and GMO ingredients. The chips are marketed as a ‘healthy’ alternative to regular chips as a means to lessen the chance of developing heart disease, but if your dining on Round Up (glyphosate residues) and GM Bt toxins found
in most genetically modified corn, then ‘healthy’ as Frito-Lay defines it takes on a new meaning.
Samples were sent to a lab by GmoFreeUSA.org. They used quantitative PCR test verification by DNA analysis only to find that 100% of the chips contained DNA sequences known to be present in insecticide-producing Bt and Roundup Ready corn, as well as traces of the active ingredient known as glyphostae, used in Monsanto’s best-selling herbicide, Round Up.
That means BT toxins are inside your cells when you eat this product. It means you are eating a pesticide that has been registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The glyphosate residue test was conducted by an accredited lab using the Specific LC/MS/MS testing method with a minimum detectable level of 0.02 ppm. This test proved the presence of glyphosate in SunChips at a level of 0.14 ppm, or 0.14 mg/kg. This is a significant enough level to cause concern, but really, any residue level at all, even in miniscule amounts, is linked to ill health.
Guess who owns Frito-Lay who makes SunChips? Pepsi-Co, one of the largest contributors to the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association (GMA), responsible for fighting GMO labeling in numerous states. They’ve donated millions to keep you from knowing this very information.
As GMOFreeUSA puts it:
“…$13,166,299 million is an obscene amount of money to spend fighting transparency and it makes you wonder what Pepsi is trying to hide. NOW WE KNOW.”
Looks like Pepsi’s dirty secret has been left out in the sun.
