We all have our insecurities and our breasts seem to always be one of them. Many women tend to feel that they are too small, too big, or we get upset that they are not perfect. One is bigger than the other or one is a little higher. We all have these issues.
One thing we all fear is when our breasts will begin to sag. Even though some sagging can develop naturally, there are some things we can do to prevent sagging breasts and promote breast health.
Why do Breasts Sag?

Our breasts are not muscle. They are made up of fatty tissues and glands for producing milk. All of this is covered with skin that is naturally elastic because of the presence of the protein elastin. According to some experts, there are three major causes of early breast sagging.
- Smoking – Smoking destroys the elastin protein and causes skin to lose its elasticity. This causes the skin around and on the breasts to become loose and sag.
- Drastic Weight Gain and Loss – If you have a hard time maintaining a healthy weight and tend to fluctuate weight wise, this will have an effect on the state of your breasts. Specifically, if you gain or lose about 50 pounds, this will more than likely cause your breasts to sag.
- Pregnancy – Many women believe that breastfeeding causes breasts to sag, but it is actually pregnancy that does it. The weight gained during pregnancy is a specific cause of breast sagging. This is especially true when one has multiple pregnancies. The best way to combat this is to try to maintain a healthy weight during your pregnancy and to keep your skin supple and happy by regularly using coconut oil, cacao butter, and aloe topically on your breasts and tummy. You may be able to avoid stretch marks too!

- Maintain Your Weight – As mentioned earlier, if you keep your weight at an ideal level, your breasts will stay firmer. Drastic weight gain and weight loss will cause the breasts to sag.
- Drink Water – You hear over and over again that water is good for your body. It is also good for you skin. According to the University of Wisconsin, if you do not drink enough water, your skin will age quicker. This will cause your breasts to sag. Always drink a liter of pure water upon rising in the morning. Add a pinch of sea salt and lemon to your water.
- Proper Nutrition with Exercise – According to iDIVA, there are plenty of foods (such as foods rich in sulfur-bearing protein: spirulina, hempseed, eggs and vitamin C: berries, vegetables and our common fruits) you can eat along with exercise that will keep your breasts firm. If you need to lose some weight, be sure to keep your diet nutritious for not only breast health, but full body health. Avoid fried foods which can age connective tissue, just like you would avoid smoking.
- Pomegranate – There are many sites out there that promote pomegranates and pomegranate oil for breast firmness and health. This is due to pomegranates interesting flavonoids such as ellagic acid, its vitamin C, and its healthy phytoestrogens. Pomegranates are pretty delicious, too.
- Aloe Vera – Aloe vera is another good product to use to keep your breasts firm. According to In Life Healthcare, all you have to do is massage your breasts with aloe vera, leave it on for ten minutes, and then wash away. This should be done 4 to 5 times a week. The aloe will naturally strengthen your skin. You can also massage with coconut oil and/or cacao butter 2 to 3 times a week. Fresh aloe vera is superior to bottled aloe vera; be sure to filet the skin off of fresh aloe and use just the inner gel.
