15-Year-Old Puts Cancer Industry to Shame: Develops 100% Accurate Cancer Test Using Google

A 15- year old teenager from Crownsville, Maryland, called Jack Andraka, is the Teen Prodigy of Pancreatic Cancer who invented a new method to detect a lethal cancer.

Namely, this teenager started to work on this issue after the death of a close friend of his, caused by pancreatic cancer. As a result of this tragedy, Jack’s resolution was to be more proactive rather than just accepting the situation without trying to change it.

Unfortunately, pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths (34, 000 taken lives so far) due to its late detection. Moreover, the popular tests are 60 years old and expensive ($ 800) testing methods which miss 30% of all pancreatic cancers.

Jack focused on the fact that the main problem was a lack of early detection tests, so he came up with a test that is capable of detecting cancer in its earliest stage.

Jack’s test a 100 % accurate cancer test that costs 3 cents and takes only 5 minutes using Google and Wikipedia-the two most used online resources, available almost to everyone who has an internet connection.

Additionally, the test invented by this remarkable young boy is 168 times faster, 26,000 times cheaper and 400 times more sensitive than the current standard of detection.

The discovery by the young boy can be of great importance in cancer treatments, and it undoubtedly put cancer industry to shame.

Google Won the Internet. Now It Wants to Cure Diseases... Thoughts?

Google co-founder Larry Page has made a HUGE announcement, Google will be reorganizing itself as a new company, called Alphabet!


According to Page,

“We liked the name Alphabet because it means a collection of letters that represent language, one of humanity’s most important innovations, and is the core of how we index with Google search! We also like that it means alpha‑bet (Alpha is investment return above benchmark), which we strive for!”

Interestingly, the work they will be focusing on does not bear much relation to the internet as one would think but more so in medicine and health.

Under Alphabet, life sciences will become a completely separate division. The company has been in process of recruiting the best scientific talent, from immunologists to nanoparticle engineers  and everything in between. 

According to the company, it will plans on revolutionizing the health industry and how we have diagnosed and even treated disease.


“Our central thesis was that there’s clearly something amiss in Western medicine,” Andrew Conrad, previously the chief scientific officer at LabCorp and the co-founder of the National Genetics Institute has said.

One of their maind projects it to develop new innovative ways of diagnosing and treating diabetes. Last year Google/Alphabet unveiled a smart contact lens diabetics can use to read blood sugar levels through the tears in their eyes! This seems to be a taste of things to come.
  

Google/Alphabet is also taking great interest in the human genome and will be studying it very closely.
 
Other work on the molecular level include a cancer-detecting pill that pairs with a wristband and how to slow down the aging process!

Google are Using These Balloons To Bring Cheap Internet To An Entire Country

As we all know there are parts of the world where internet signal cannot be found. But Google has an ambitious plan to remedy this.

Through the utilization of high-altitude balloons, Project Loon began in 2013 to help bring internet to people despite their location and intends to be a revolutionary game changer for the world at large.

In July 2015, the Sri Lankan government made a deal with Google to bring broadband Internet access to the entire country, which is 21 million people in total.
  

"The entire Sri Lankan island — every village from Dondra to Point Pedro — will be covered with affordable high speed Internet using Google Loon's balloon technology," IT and Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera said in an interview with the India Times.

Stephen Hawking and 1,000 Experts Sign Letter Warning To Stop Autonomous Weaponized Robots

What do Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk, and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniac have in common? They all think that artificially intelligent weaponized robots could wreak havoc on Earth.

(ANTIMEDIA) Tesla’s Elon Musk, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Google executive Demis Hassabis, and professor Stephen Hawking are among over 1,000 artificial intelligence experts who have recently signed an open letter warning the world about the dangers of weaponized robots and a “military artificial intelligence arms race” currently taking place between the world’s military powers.

According to the letter, “AI technology has reached a point where the deployment of [autonomous weapons] is – practically if not legally – feasible within years, not decades, and the stakes are high: autonomous weapons have been described as the third revolution in warfare, after gunpowder and nuclear arms.”

“The endpoint of this technological trajectory is obvious: autonomous weapons will become the Kalashnikovs of tomorrow. The key question for humanity today is whether to start a global AI arms race or to prevent it from starting,”the letter continues.

The current military technology available to the world’s governments is already a massive danger to the planet and everyone that lives here, and it is obvious, as the letter states, that the addition of artificial intelligence could make the global arms race significantly more threatening.

Many people have a hard time grasping how close this scenario is to becoming a reality, but the industry’s leading experts, who have a deep knowledge and understanding of the technology and how it is developing, can see the danger represented by military applications of artificial intelligence.

How this situation can actually be handled is extremely complicated because there is actually no ability for the general population of any country to ensure that their governments don’t develop military artificial intelligence.

According to the Guardian, Toby Walsh, professor of AI at the University of New South Wales, has suggested that the United Nations oversee a ban of these weapons, however a ban of this nature would only ensure that the countries in control of the UN and NATO would have exclusive access to weaponized AI. This is similar to the way the United Nations currently bans nuclear weapons while allowing larger NATO nations to continue developing them.

The solution to this problem will not be enacted by any of the governments or government-affiliated agencies that will benefit from the development of military AI, but a letter from over 1,000 of the industries leading experts is a start towards actually finding a real ground-up solution.
