Surviving a heart attack is probably the best “skill” you can master, because it will save your life, and also the life of a complete stranger.
According to a survey, 80% of deaths caused by heart attack are cases when the person had been alone and unable to ask for help.
Which are the signs of heart attack? At the beginning it feels like sharp pain in the chest spreading to the arm and jaw.
You have about 15 seconds before you lose your consciousness.
In some cases, the symptoms appear slowly and last for longer, meaning that you have more time to go to the nearest hospital or seek for help. Instead of putting your life at risk and waiting for help, try coughing as hard as you can!
Cough constantly! Take deep breath before coughing. Cough deeply.
Take deep breath and cough every 2 seconds until you get some help or your heart starts beating normally.
Deep breaths bring oxygen to the lungs and body motions press your heart and regulate circulation. Applying pressure on your heart helps restoring normal rhythm.
In the meantime, ask your neighbors for help or use your phone. Remember, you should not stop coughing while you are talking on the phone. Coughing will save your life.
According to experts, people who cough while asking for help manage to reach to the hospital and get some proper help.
However, there is not strong scientific evidence on the efficacy of this method, but doctors suggest doing it once the first symptoms of heart attack appear. Seek for medical help, because sometimes you cannot cough deeply enough to regulate your heart beating and stay conscious.
Anyway, it is good to know more about this method, because sometimes it can save someone’s life.

1. Let yourself feel the pain.
Don’t try to stave off the feelings of pain through alcohol and addictive behaviors. Don’t hide from these feelings. Instead, feel them. Sure, you’ll feel low for a while, but in order to heal fully, you have to let yourself experience feelings of pain.

2. Take all the time you need.
After you’ve experienced a terrible chaos, there’s no need to jump right back into life right away. If you were broken up with, don’t find a new partner right away. If you lose a loved one, there’s no need to walk it off. Take all the time you need to recover.

3. Add joy to your life.
You don’t need to be forcing happiness upon yourself, but bring it back little by little. Start doing the things you love again. But little by little. There’s no need to rush back into old routines. Do it on your time.

4. Forgive.
If there’s someone to forgive, begin working toward forgiveness. Remember that hate and grudges is like drinking a poison and expecting the other person to get a stomach ache. In the end, it’ll hold you up from complete recovery.

5. When you’re ready, tell your story.

When you’re in the process of recovery, telling your story can be too painful. Instead, wait until you’re totally ready, then write it all out. Write out how you felt. Write out what happened afterward. Write out what it means to you today. Tell your story, even if no one will ever read it.
