Why Japanese women live so long and don't get fat? Their 7 secrets are revealed here!
Japanese people have long been praised for their healthy habits and ways and actually boast the highest life expectancy rate in the entire world
But what sets them apart? Naomi Moriyama decided to write a book about this called ‘Japanese women don’t get old or fat’which explains her personal experience in following her mother's cooking and traditions which helped her and her husband to get healthy and shed their unwanted weight.
These days, the Japanese too, particularly the younger generation, are experiencing challenges from fast food corporate word, largely rooted in the West. Despite this, the older traditions live on and people still stand by them firmly and for good reason.
According to Naomi there are 7 rules to Japanese health;
#1 Diet rooted in fish, soy, rice, vegetables and fruit (vegetarian)
A traditional meal in Japan usually consists of some grilled fish, a healthy sized portion of steamed rice (around a fist), simmered or steamed vegetables, miso soup, and green tea.* Desert consists of delicious fruits.
#2 Small portions
One of the biggest problems in the Western diet, is portions are abnormally and unnecessarily large. People often times eat to where they feel overwhelmed and bloated. This is extremely unhealthy. Japanese servings are small but satisfying. A way to determine this can be accomplished by drinking some water.
#3 Light cooking
Steaming, grilling, sautéing, simmering, and other approaches but NEVER frying in ridiculous amounts of oil, is key in Japanese cooking. They use fresh ingredients and make healthy choices overall.#4 No bread, just rice
No bread but steamed rice is served with every meal, which eliminates refined flour.#5 Breakfast powered with miso soup
Breakfast is arguably the most important meal of the day in Japanese culture. A bowl of probiotic miso soup is a popular favorite.#6 Healthier desserts
Fruits are popular as deserts. Occasionally, however, other more Western type deserts are eaten but in moderation.#7 Different attitude toward food
Japanese women don't usually pay as much attention to their diets as Western women generally, yet they are much healthier because healthy eating is a way of life. Additionally, exercise is also a way of life.7 key Foods of the Japanese Diet;
