Fears Scarlet Fever Epidemic Has Hit The UK

A HUGE spike in scarlet fever cases has sparked fears Britain could be facing an epidemic. 

There have been 33 suspected cases in Surrey in just four weeks - 43.5 per cent higher than the same period last year. 

Medics have now warned parents to remain vigilant to prevent an outbreak of the highly contagious disease across the UK.

All boroughs in Surrey have been affected by the disease, with Reigate and Banstead the worst hit with 11 cases. 

While the illness is marked by a pink-red sandpapery rash, parents are warned not to assume it is scarlet fever - as this could also be a sign of deadly meningitis. 

Dr Ivan Ratnayake of the Ashley Centre Surgery in Epsom, said: "The rash seen with scarlet fever can mimic that of meningitis - and it's hard to diagnose over the phone. 

"I would always encourage parents, if they spot the symptoms, to get their child seen by a doctor. 

"I wouldn't even discourage them to go to the hospital if they can't be seen by a GP immediately - you want to get your child looked at as soon as possible.

"I would not encourage a lay person to try to tell the difference."

Scarlet fever rarely leads to further problems if treated correctly. 

Expert Theresa Lamagni from the Public Health England said scarlet fever levels have remained high since an increase in cases in 2014. 

She said: "Increasing numbers are currently being seen in line with the usual seasonal pattern, where we typically see increasing activity over the course of the winter and spring.

"While scarlet fever is not usually a severe illness it should be treated with antibiotics to reduce the risk of further complications and to minimise the risk of spread to others. 

"If you or your child develops any of the symptoms of scarlet fever you should contact your GP. 

"Children or adults diagnosed with scarlet fever are advised to stay at home until at least 24 hours after the start of antibiotic treatment to avoid spreading the infection to others."

Govt Conveniently Deleted Entire Database of Evidence Documenting Pedophile Rings

London, UK — The Independent Inquiry Into Child Sex Abuse (IICSA) apologized this week after vital testimony from victims of child sexual abuse was “instantly and permanently deleted” from their servers. The agency said that the loss of data was due to a technical malfunction, which dumped an untold number of testimonies that were submitted to their official website. The agency now claims that there was no security breach, and that while the testimonies were lost, the privacy of the victims is not at risk.

An Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) was established by the British Home Secretary, Theresa May, on 7 July 2014. The inquiry was intended to investigate why pedophile rings seemed to be exempt from capture.

IICSA posted the following statement on their website:

“Due to a change in our website address to http://www.iicsa.org.uk on 14 September, any information submitted to the Inquiry between 14 September and 2 October through the online form on the Share your experience page of our website, was instantly and permanently deleted before it reached our engagement team. We are very sorry for any inconvenience or distress this will cause and would like to reassure you that no information was put at risk of disclosure or unauthorised access.

Due to the security measures on our website, your information cannot be found or viewed by anyone else as it was immediately and permanently destroyed.We would like to apologise again to anyone who submitted details to the Inquiry during this time and to ask you to please resubmit your information through the online form. Alternatively you can call the Inquiry helpline on 0800 917 1000 to submit your information over the phone, or email our team at contact@iicsa.org.uk.”

The commission is being ran by New Zealand judge Lowell Goddard, who is paid over a half million dollars for her work with the group.
