Viral Alternative News: just label it

Although actress Gwyneth Paltrow is not normally someone we would write about considering her blind support for Barack Obama, she has publicly opposed the what people are calling the DARK act (Denying Americans the Right-to-Know) which prevents states from labeling GMO foods which is something that any sane and thinking person would support.

Paltrow made it clear that she does not consider herself an expert on the subject but she is a concerned mother and has also sold cook books and is a chef who has done her own personal research going on to say;

The bill is a classical Orwellion 'doublespeak' propaganda campaign dubbed the 'Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act' which insinuates that it is actually going to accurately label food, when it is just the opposite. This bill would prevent states from using GMO labels and no one would ever actually know what they are eating.

As I said, not much of a fan of Paltrow for her blind support for Obama (who ironically claimed when running in 2007 that GMO foods would be labeled once he took office) but she is absolutely right here. We all have a right to know what we are putting into our bodies and the ridiculous excuse that it could POTENTIALLY add some insignificant costs to the consumer when we are spending millions and billions on wars we don't want, is absolutely absurd.

Big food companies have spent $51 million so far this year denying you the right to know what's in their food. Is it a coincidence that these companies are also losing money as more people are turning away from their products?

Big food corporations have spent even more money than usual on lobbying in the first half of this year. The main reason is the support they’ve provided for what people are calling the Deny Americans the Right to Know Act (DARK Act) which was passed last month.

This act prevents states from creating their own GMO labeling laws, as well as preventing dubious and inaccurate “natural” claims on GMO foods which is obviously absurd, yet this is what is actually going on right now.

In the first six months of this year this is what the corporate giants have spent on keeping the American people in the dark;

Coca-Cola: $5,040,000
PepsiCo: $3,230,000
Kraft: $1,180,000
Kellogg’s: $1,310,000
General Mills: $1,100,000
Land O’Lakes: $720,000

The spending for GMO labeling from companies such Just Label It, was overwhelmed by these big corporations. Industry lobbyists have outspent GMO labeling advocates by 25-to-1.

Just Label It’s latest video interviews celebrity mothers about what they think about these major corporations preventing them from knowing what is in their children's food.
