Did you know drinking warm or room temperature water is better than drinking cold water? Here's why:
These days there are thousands of tips online promising to improve your health, beauty, and fitness. People try specialized diets, go through grueling workout regimens, shell out tons of cash on expensive trainers and fitness tracking devices, and do all kinds of other things in the name of health. It's kind of funny, though, that most people tend to overlook one of the easiest ways to be healthy there is: proper hydration.
Water isn't known as one of the building blocks of life for no reason. Our bodies are mostly water, and while we can survive up to two weeks without any food, without water we would die in just three days. Dehydration can lead to a wide variety of health problems such as lack of focus, fatigue, soreness, bad breath, and more. Yet, drinking more water seems to regularly pop up as a goal or reminder for so many of my health-conscious friends. Personally, I'm far from the pinnacle of health, but I've got the water thing down. I opt for water 8 times out of 10 and have my trusty water bottle at arm's length almost anywhere I go.
So far, though, I've only been taking advantage of the benefits of cool water. It turns out that drinking water that is hot or warm actually has a few added benefits that I never even knew about. As refreshing as it is when it's cold, we've all been drinking water at the wrong temperature!
Water that has been boiled is purer than cold water, because boiling kills off any bacteria and germs that may have been present.
Drinking warm water can also help raise your body temperature, causing you to sweat more. This might sound gross, but sweating helps release toxins from the body and opens up the pores, so embrace the sweat!
Hot/warm water is great for when you have a cold or a sore throat as it helps dissolve phlegm and soothes an irritated throat.
Warm water has been found to improve bowel function and resolve gastrointestinal tract issues.
Drinking hot water first thing in the morning kick starts our metabolism and helps burn adipose tissue (fat), aiding with weight loss.
Dehydration can lead to a drop in testosterone for men, ruining your workout. Warm water has the added fitness benefit of absorbing in your body faster so that you stay hydrated throughout your workout. Get swole.
Drinking warm water improves blood circulation throughout the body, which can alleviate all sorts of minor aches and pains and give you more energy and focus.
By the way, gentlemen: increased blood circulation helps in other ways too. 'Nuff said.
Your brain is very sensitive to dehydration. Being properly hydrated gives a boost to your mental focus and clarity. Drink some warm water with honey for an added boost to your brain!
Warm water is also incredibly good at soothing joint pain and sore muscles. Hydration is still a key factor here, but this one is more about taking a bath in hot water as opposed to drinking it.
Finally, warm water has also been found to assist with abdominal cramps and water retention during pregnancy, and also helps keep the urinary tract clean.

It should be noted, however, that the advice given here should not be used to treat actual medical conditions. While drinking warm water is a pretty healthy and safe way to supplement your health, always consult any medical condition with your physician.
