13 Pics Reveal How Hardcore Ballet Dancers Truly Are

Ballet may seem like a sweet sport for fancy guys and gals, but before you pass judgment you might want to get your facts straight. True ballet dancers are just as hardcore as professional football players getting knocked around out on the field, only ballet dancers get paid a whole lot less for the damage their body endures.
Standing on your toes all day isn't easy for anyone. Regardless of the struggles and physical pain, dedicated ballerinas practice around the clock. Hiding beneath every pair of ballet slippers are bunions, black nails and deformed toes. The feet are not the only part of the body that feels the strain, countless muscles are at risk for becoming overstretched, overworked, torn and exhausted.
The next time you see a ballet, make sure to truly appreciate the dancers on stage and all that they sacrifice and endure in order to put on a magical show.
Ballet was introduced in the US on February 7, 1827; as a result we now celebrate Ballet Day on the seventh of every February. In honor of yesterday's holiday, here are 13 pictures that prove just how tough ballet dancers truly are.
