What happens when corporate business moves into town, sets up shop, and undercuts mom and pop shops that have been serving the townsfolk for generations?
Answer: Your once booming downtown begins to host more and more boarded up/ white washed store fronts.
Some may argue that, good or bad, this is capitalism.
To that I say, “Oh really? Capitalism is
outsourcing goods and labor to other countries whose legislation allows
underpaid, inhumane conditions? Capitalism is refusing to supply
employees with healthcare benefits, full-time hours, and fair pay? Thus
forcing your workforce into welfare and Medicaid, all the while shutting
down local family businesses?”
This is not true capitalism. What we have here is corporatism.
So the next time someone defends one of these big-wig corporate institutes by saying, “They create jobs!”
Ask them, “At what cost?”
Do your part, support local businesses, farmers, and families.
