Study Confirms Eating Chocolate Makes Your Smarter

It's good for your heart health, improves fitness, reduces the risk of stroke and even helps protect you  from unwanted effects of too much sun. Now, a study shows that it makes you smarter too!

Who doesn't love chocolate? It's delicious and boasts a long list of health benefits. Now, a 40 year study recently published in the journal Appetite, demonstrates that people who eat chocolate at least once a week actually have improved memory over those who do not.

Examining the average scores on cognitive functioning tests of 1,000 people, some of whom ate chocolate less than once a week and others who ate it at least once a week, researchers found that the consumption of chocolate was clearly linked to better brain functioning.

According to Georgina Crichton, a nutrition researcher at the University of South Australia, this, means that consuming chocolate at least once a week makes the individual better at daily tasks "such as remembering a phone number, or your shopping list, or being able to do two things at once, like talking and driving at the same time".
It should be made very clear, however, that this is not advocating excessive consumption or justifying obsessive chocolate eating. The participants ate chocolate one or a few times a week.
