This homemade herbal throat spray and cough drops recipe is great for sore throat or cough.
Although it is always best to obviously take care of our health, through the use of proper diet and healthy routine, every now and then, we might find ourselves stuck with a sore throat and a cough to go with it. Unfortunately the mainstream media and pharmaceutical establishment provide us with very few options — if any at all — in terms of viable healthy alternatives.
In this article, we will provide you with a natural, and effective, alternative treatment that will help you get rid of your cough and sore throat without any unwanted or undesirable effects.
Sore Throat Spray
- ¾ cup purified water
- 2 Tbsp raw, organic apple cider vinegar (kills bacteria and loosens phlegm)
- 2 tsp raw honey (soothes sore throat and boosts immunity)
- 1 tsp sea salt (helps reduce inflammation and kills bacteria through raising pH balance in the mouth)
- 8 drops Lemon essential oil
- 8 drops Shield essential oil blend
- 4 drops Peppermint essential oil
- 4 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
- *The oils have a wide range of health benefits, which include helping to improve our immunity to disease overall.
Next, take all the ingredients and add them to a glass container or jar of some sort, and then shake them well to ensure they mix together effectively. Then pour (funnel recommended) the mixture into a small glass or plastic spray bottle (if you don't have a sprayer, you can also use a dropper). Spray one or two pumps towards the back of the throat, or use 3-6 drops with a dropper. You can store the remainder in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 6 months.
Soothing Cough Drops
- 1 cup raw honey
- 11 drops Shield essential oil blend
- 7 drops Lemon essential oil
- 3 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
Once the honey begins to come to a boil, lower the heat and cook until it reaches 300 degrees (this is why you need a thermometer) and stir it occassionally.
Once it has reached 300 degrees, then you can remove the pan from the oven top and let it cool for a few minutes. Next, add the essential oils to the pan and mix them well. Once they have been mixed in effectively you can pour them into the mold or icecube tray.
Once your molds are full, place them in the fridge for a couple of hours until they are hardened. Then you can wrap them up in some parchment paper, so that they don't stick together, and then put them in a cool dry place, or even in the fridge and use them as needed.
Making your own cough drops is definitely a bit time consuming, but it's certainly worthwhile to know that what you are putting in your body is really good for your health!
Please share this, more of us need to know that there are not only healthy alternatives to what big pharma is pushing out there, but we need to inspire more people becoming self sufficient, and health savvy, like older generations were.
