Vertical farms are proving to be the key to solving global hunger
In most cases, growing food is not the issue, it is the transportation of food that becomes an issue. Often, residents in New York get vegetables shipped from California leaving five days between harvest and consumption. It's hardly fresh.
The other extreme is where climate and conditions are not right to grow food; whether due to global warming, cooling or location. Being able to grow indoors allows year-round ability to grow vegetables and fruits.
On top of that is the fact that you don't need to use pesticides, herbicides or fungicides when growing indoors, making for a cleaner experience and cleaner final product.
To seal it off, indoor, vertical farms use 95% less water than outdoor, horizontal farms, and 50% less fertilizer, while growing acres of food in a single building. It's cheaper to grow and transport the food and the steady supply of local produce helps guarantee people won't go hungry.
