Chipotle Is Temporarily Closing ALL Their Stores

Chipotle announced today the temporary closing of ALL their stores in an effort to address the E.Coli outbreaks happening in various franchises around the country.
The closures on February 8th will occur in order to find and eliminate the problem while preventing future outbreaks. Chipotle will also host live satellite feed to over 60,000 employees to address the problem, giving employees the opportunity to ask questions and be involved in solutions.
In an article by Natural Society, a timeline highlights Chipotle’s bad year:
1. In July, 5 people in the Seattle area were sickened with E. coli. The source remains unknown.
2. At least 234 people were sickened with the norovirus in Simi Valley, California. The source is unknown.
3. In Minnesota, 64 people fell ill with salmonella in August and September. The source of the outbreak was found to be tomatoes served at 17 of the state’s Chipotle establishments.
4. Around October 9, 52 people contracted E. coli at establishments in California, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington state.
5. In December, more than 140 college students were sickened with norovirus after eating at a Chipotle in Boston’s Cleveland Circle neighborhood.
Many Chipotle supporters believe the company’s bad luck is actually the result of corporate sabotage. It is suspicious that from 1993 to 2014, not a single E. Coli case was reported in connection with the Mexican food chain, but since a very public campaign to go GMO-free seven months ago began, dozens of cases cases have been reported!! It should be noted that Chipotle has not changed suppliers or food-handling protocols. chipotle
***The only change has been a very public campaign against GMOs and the inhumane treatment of factory farmed animals
The safe food movement has an incredible opportunity to rally support behind a noble corporation advocating for GMO-free dining options and the humane treatment of animals. March Against Monsanto asks everyone to please pledge to dine at their local Chipotle on February 9th, 2016. Show your support to Chipotle and do not let corporate sabotage sink this extraordinary company!
It has never been more important to vote with your wallets and support organic and non-GMO companies. March Against Monsanto has launched its own online, non-GMO grocery store, committed to driving down the cost of clean, safe food and making it accessible to everyone. Please continue to boycott the opposition and Shop Against Monsanto.
