The Holocaust Museum just made an unprecedented public statement
condemning those who turn away Syrian refugees and explicitly linked
their plea to German Jews who fled Nazi occupation

War, poverty, terrorism, and so many other issues that will not simply go away at the behest of prayers or positive thinking. It will require action on our part as a society for things to begin to change.

Irrespective of who's to blame, although it should absolutely be addressed since it is a root cause of the problem, much debate has been held about whether countries and nations should open their (imaginary) borders to refugees who are fleeing for their lives due to the hysteria of terrorism.
As a result, the Holocaust Museum released a public statement on its website this Thursday with their thoughts summarized as follows;
There is sure to be threats in these instances, but in a world that is drowning in surveillance and government control, to imagine that "terrorists" can infiltrate so easily, is another question deserving far more scrutiny and skepticism than whether or not human beings in comfort should help other human being in desperation.
Will we learn from our past mistakes or are we doomed to repeat history?

“Acutely aware of the consequences to Jews who were unable to flee Nazism, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum looks with concern upon the current refugee crisis. While recognizing that security concerns must be fully addressed, we should not turn our backs on the thousands of legitimate refugees.
The Museum calls on public figures and citizens to avoid condemning today’s refugees as a group. It is important to remember that many are fleeing because they have been targeted by the Assad regime and ISIS for persecution and in some cases elimination on the basis of their identity.”In the past many countries, including the United States, turned away Jewish refugees fleeing from the Nazi regime because they feared it would be a detriment to the local population based on the fear of Nazi infiltration and other issues. Consequently, thousands of people died.
