Manta-ray-shaped floating city
Innovative French architect Jacques Rougerie, has come up with the brilliant idea of creating a giant floating city designed to give scientists a place to live while they conduct research on the surrounding ocean.
The research facility, known as the City of Mériens, stretches 900 metres by 500 metres, and plans on housing up to 7,000 scientists and students from different parts of the world.
The design is specifically made to be 100 percent sustainable, running on renewable marine energy and producing absolutely zero waste.
